The older brother hums the melody to his favorite song, adding the final touches to his new video on the importance of family. He shares a sneak peek with his family. Their smiles seem to go so wide they would reach their eyes. “How did you get that idea?” His dad asks, giving him a pat on the back. He beams at his dad and family. “It took a few weeks, but what mom asked me really got to me. I started thinking about my purpose, and why I was doing this editing and creating. I realized that I wanted to share these messages, this hope, this peace, with the world. I know I’m just a beginner, and not known to the world. But I’m believing, by faith and through grace, that my step of sharing these videos will impact someone, somewhere, somehow, and will bring change to the world. Little by little, step by step.”
Little by little, step by step. How fast do you want to reach your dreams and achieve your goals? How hard do you work to find rest, fight to experience peace or search to live in hope? I don’t know what you’re going through, but to whoever needs to hear this, know that your pacing is for you. This season you’re in right now, is for you. It may not feel like it’s good or that it fits into your plans, but because you’re here, in this moment, there is something for you to grow through and thrive in.
“The Lord is my shepherd. I will always have everything I need. He gives me green pastures to lie in. He leads me by calm pools of water. He restores my strength. He leads me on right paths to show that He is good. Even if I walk through a valley as dark as the grave, I will not be afraid of any danger, because You are with me. Your rod and staff comfort me. You prepared a meal for me in front of my enemies. You welcomed me as an honored guest. My cup is full and spilling over. Your goodness and mercy will be with me all my life, and I will live in the Lord’s house a long, long time.” Psalm 23 ERV
You were created for a purpose and you’re still here on this earth to fulfill it. You were created with such love and intention, designed for an intimate relationship with your Creator. He did not make you to drop you onto earth and leave you alone. He wants to do everything with you, but since it’s a relationship, He waits for you to be willing to grow with Him. If you trust Him to be your Shepherd, know that He will lead you to the best, hopeful, wonderful plans and future. (Jeremiah 29:11) God is good, in ways we won’t always understand, but because we know He is good, we can trust that He has good things planned.
So in whatever you’re striving towards or working for, think about your purpose and why you do this. Is it to gain followers, popularity, riches, notice that will most likely fade if no foundation is rooted? Or is it to grow in your relationship with your Creator and share this overflowing, full, and spilling over love and hope with others? Is it to lead your family or friends to He who leads you to what is good? Is it to bring excellence so that people can see His goodness in your life?
Life is too short to box God and ourselves into limited check-lists. You may be seeing only a piece or few pieces of your life now, but God sees the whole picture. Keep trusting Him, hoping in Him, and believing that He’s not done with you..
Blessings!
